The HIVE Performance Collective is made up of ten performance-based emerging artists and companies. Our fundamental purpose is to collectively produce and create a unique arts-activated community and performance event. Our priority is to invite the community into the process, and to make process and exploration a main focus.
We believe in making space for the next generation of Canadian artists to collaborate and cross-pollinate their working processes and ideas, and to create community with other independent artists and companies. The collective’s members each possess their own unique aesthetic, artistic process, and broad reaches into a specific community and audience. By coming together as a collective, we demonstrate our commitment to sharing these resources in the spirit of collaboration instead of competition.

We take our namesake from the incredibly successful HIVE originally produced in 2006 by 11 of Vancouver and Victoria's creation-based theatre companies known collectively as Progress Lab.
