Our 2015 Festival features exciting Pay-What-You-Can performances and Magnetic Encounter events where pre-registration is recommended, or in some cases, required due to limited capacity. Choose the event below you’d like to attend and fill out the online registration form in order to guarantee your spot. Many of our Magnetic Encounter events fill up quickly, so register early!

Pay-What-You-Can Performances

The Global Savages (Registration Recommended)
(Manitoulin Island, ON)
Experience an honest, inspiring journey into the heart of what it means to be human. A sacred fire and open sky surround you as a small Anishnaabeg family share their 18 000 year-old story, one gifted to them through generations of elders. Pre-register for this performance here.

Magnetic Encounters

Backstage Tour – Needles and Opium (Registration Required)
June 6 at 4PM, NAC Theatre
Join us for a special behind-the-scenes tour of the NAC’s Theatre, where the set for Robert Lepage’s Needles and Opium will be in place. THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL.

Lantern Building Workshop with Lumière Festival (Registration Required)
June 7 from 3:30-5:30PM, Location TBD
Start your Verso experience by joining us and Ottawa’s Lumière Festival to build your own lantern for the Sunday evening extravaganza! Materials and expert instruction from experienced Lumière lantern-builders will be provided. THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL.

Soup Ottawa: Magnetic North Edition ($10 Admission Required)
June 10 from 6:00-8:30PM, Knox Presbyterian Church (120 Lisgar St)
Soup Ottawa focuses on two things: good soup and funding great community projects. Unlike our other free Magnetic Encounter events, a $10 admission applies that gets you delicious soup, bread, and one vote. Six local artists will pitch their passion projects, and all funds collected will be awarded to the winning artist. Soup Ottawa events typically sell out, so we recommend getting tickets in advance at www.soupottawa.ca

Elders Gone AWOL (Registration Required)
June 11 from 5-7PM, Bytown Museum
In 2011, the Debajemuhjig Storytellers from Manitoulin Island created a project to bring the Elders and the Youth in their community together. The way they went about it was inspirational. Experience this heart-warming and entertaining multi-media experience featuring The Dirty Dozen and Then Some. Presented in partnership with the Bytown Museum. THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL.

The Exchange Experience:
Validating 500 Years of First Nation History
with Suzanne Keeptwo
(Registration Required)
Co-presented by Magnetic North and Jumblies Theatre
June 12 from 1:00-5:00PM, NAC Rehearsal Hall A
An open, interactive learning workshop thriving on the many layered Teachings of the Medicine Wheel. Participants will learn about sacred teachings and concepts while guided through a distinctly creative process. Players craft original theatre with–and for – each other. Wear comfortable clothing and bring* a blanket to work with! No theatre experience necessary. THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL.
