MAGNETIC
VIBRATIONS

Magnetic Vibrations

Magnetic Vibrations is the festival's term for the increased amplitude of creativity that occurs when an artist is subjected to vibrations from another artist at or near their own natural frequency.

In practical terms, it’s our opportunity to bring artists together and build bridges that span the nation.

Uth Ink

The Voices of Young Kitchener Playwrights

Uth Ink brings Lost & Found Theatre’s resident playwright Gary Kirkham together with local youth to write and record site-specific plays inspired by various locations in the area. A national youth program managed by Playwrights Guild of Canada and [murmur], Uth Ink is designed to empower young people to journey through a four-month creative process and have a direct artistic impact on their community through playwriting and performance.

Pick up a map at Centre In The Square and go on a FREE self-guided audio tour of all of the locations. Look for the outdoor signage, call the toll free number and listen to each play over your cell phone.

Download a map and/or listen to Uth Ink plays from across Canada at www.uthinkers.ca.

2010 Masterclass for Directors

This unique and intensive workshop will focus on the creative practice of the theatre director’s craft, and examine the artistry, discipline and responsibilities of being a director. Participants will be led and mentored by the National Arts Centre’s Artistic Director Peter Hinton who will guide nine days of instruction.

At the centre of the Masterclass is the opportunity to work with British director Josette Bushell-Mingo and Canadian icon Martha Henry, each from very different backgrounds and traditions and both with very different approaches and methodologies to share.

The 2010 Masterclass for Directors is for mid-career directors and established theatre artists making a transition to directing and is produced by Canadian Actors' Equity Association at the 2010 Magnetic North Theatre Festival. Applications for the 2010 Masterclasses are now closed.

Asphalt Jungle Shorts VI

Flush Ink Productions (Kitchener, ON)

Asphalt Jungle Shorts has little need of an actual theatre. Arrive wherever the designated box office happens to be (a café, a bookstore...) and take a journey with the audience through the downtown core of the city, experiencing innovative theatre performed in strange and completely unexpected spaces.

Now in its sixth year, Asphalt Jungle Shorts has produced nearly one hundred plays from playwrights in Canada, USA, UK, Australia and Israel. From the purely physical to all genres of humour, from gritty and visceral to its most absurd, this is theatre where the backdrop of the city becomes the set.

Tickets are $15 Performance begins at 8pm www.flushink.net for more details and designated box office location.
