It’s impossible to overstate the importance of the Rabbits and their influence on contemporary Canadian theatre from coast to coast. In Kawasaki Exit, these perpetual genre-definers are inspired by the real-life dark side of Japanese social networking sites. On the simplest of sets, they take us on a return ride through one story in two directions (forward and back) and two languages (English and Japanese).
Equal parts mystery and love story, Kawasaki Exit follows an unlikely trio as they tread the misty outskirts of Tokyo, stocking up on vodka and briquettes for their final ride. The Rabbits have grown up. They're a little more subtle than their Ilsa, Queen of the Nazi Love Camp days. But so smart, engaging, and like nothing we've seen before.
“Everything theatre should be: daring, dangerous, disturbing.”
