Magnetic North awarded Leadership for Change grant by the Canada Council for the Arts

We’re pleased to announce that Magnetic North was recently awarded a $10,000 grant under the 2015 Leadership for Change: Grants for Organizational Development program by the Canada Council for the Arts.

The Leadership for Change program provides funding to organizations for consultations with a specialist or expert with the goal of developing new organizational practices, structures, and opportunities. Using this funding, Magnetic North will enlist the assistance of Texas’s groundbreaking Fusebox Festival to help us learn and expand the performance by donation model we started at our 2015 Festival in Ottawa.

To say we’re excited about expanding our performance by donation offerings is an understatement. The initiative will be bigger and better than ever at our 2016 Festival in Whitehorse, YT, which will feature 24 Pay-What-You-Decide performances. By helping to eliminate barriers to attending great Canadian theatre, we hope to really get our audiences engaged, and talking, about the value of the work they’re experiencing.
