Magnetic North Theatre Festival invites proposals from Ontario-based individual artists, ad-hoc collectives or unincorporated theatre companies to submit proposals to the Artistic Director. Successful applications will be awarded seed money via the Ontario Arts Council Theatre Creator's Reserve to enable them to further explore ideas which fascinate them.

Deadline: November 1st, 2008. Applications must be received in the office by the deadline date.

The goal of the process is to a) provide creators with that most valuable resource of all: time and b) introduce Magnetic North to new and exciting artists and their projects at an early stage of development.

Therefore we will consider proposals which seek to enable artists to explore the germ of an idea and move from a notion to a script, from a script to a new-play development workshop, or from a workshop to a reading or to staged presentation. We will accept submissions from new ideas or from works-in-progress and both will be weighted equally. Existing collaborations with additional producing theatres or existing funding for works-in-progress are considered an asset but are not necessary.

Magnetic North strongly encourages submissions from artists working in non-text based traditions or from diverse communities.

Please note: While this program is intended to provide an opportunity for The Magnetic North Theatre Festival to explore new ideas with artists, a successful application through the Theatre Creator's reserve is not a commission and is by no means a guarantee that a project will be included in any festival programming.
