Magnetic Vibrations:
dub poetry story-telling performance and workshops with d'bi.young.anitafrika
April 26 - 28 | Vancouver

Vancouver audiences got a taste of what's to come during this year's Magnetic North Theatre Festival as d'bi.young.anitafrika performed some of her favourite pieces in a special pay-what-you-can performance at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre on Monday, April 28. Sharing the stage with d'bi, were eight up-and-coming storytellers and dub poets performing new pieces developed in the dub poetry workshop series. Held over three days in East Vancouver, as part of the festival's Magnetic Vibrations program, over 25 emerging, professional, youth and community artists from Vancouver, the lower mainland, Galliano Island and the Yukon learned about dub poetry and created new pieces with the craft, playfulness and integrity inherent in d'bi's work. A huge thanks to d'bi and our presenting partners Britannia Community Services Centre Society, neworldtheatre, Leave Out Violence BC (LOVE BC), Women's Press, Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre and the Vancouver East Cultural Centre.
