Magnetic Encounters

Magnetic Encounters gives audiences and artists a chance to get up-close-and-personal with Canada's fabulous artists: linger over tea with the extraordinary artists in the Festival; take a backstage look at Canada’s performing arts greats as they share their stories; engage in a good old-fashioned debate that’s sure to shake things up; and grab a sneak peek into the creative processes of 11 Vancouver theatre companies.
All Encounters events are pay-what-you-can.

Watch an old-fashioned style debate with artists who have big opinions about hot topics in the Canadian theatre scene Saturday, June 7.
The Doyenne:
Get the real story of what it takes to become one of Canada’s great theatre women. Why are there no female King Lears? Sunday, June 8.
The Projectionist:
Play designer for a day and make a very small number of video projectors replace a very large number of stage lights. June 9.
The Buzz:
Gather together with artists from the HIVE Collective and encounter their amazing creation process Friday, June 13.
