Description The Magnetic North Theatre Festival presents exceptional, contemporary Canadian theatre in English. Held in a different city each year, this year’s edition takes place in various venues in Metro Vancouver, June 4-14, 2008. Magnetic North is the premiere festival of new Canadian touring work. Through the presentation of Mainstage Programming, Encounters Series of audience and artist contact events, Industry Series, and Outreach Events, Magnetic North gives us the opportunity to share our stories, to interpret our history and our times, and to explore how we see the world. Reporting directly to the Associate Producer, the Coordinators are responsible for development and implementation of various aspects of the festival programs.
Brief description of positions:
Each position will beginning in April 2008, each position runs for 22 weeks. The salary is $450/week.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Develops and implements all aspects of the festival’s Volunteer Program (recruitment, scheduling, administration) and supervise all festival volunteers
Oversees and plans the festival and venue operations and schedules, arranges all local festival transportation as well as set-up and strike of venue equipment and supplies.
Promotes the festival and its individual programs to various community and cultural groups; manages a group sales program and generates a public profile for the festival; assists with the strategizing and placement for festival marketing materials and online promotion.
Provides direct support to the Artistic Associate to coordinate and deliver the Encounters Series programming. MAGNETIC ENCOUNTERS is a forum for artistic innovation and creative development, offering artists and audiences opportunities to participate more fully in the festival experience and to forge new and dynamic connections between the local and the national theatre milieu through events such as Celebrity Speakers, Teas with Artists, Master Classes and Post-performance Talkbacks. .
